Many serving teams in our church work according to a pattern of serving according to ‘the week of the month’. This pattern is what we call the 'church-wide serving system'. For example, at the 6pm congregation, there is a 'Week 1' meal team that serves on the first Sunday of the month, a 'Week 3' band that serves on the third Sunday of the month and a 'Week 4' welcoming team that always serves on the fourth Sunday of the month.
This means you can be part of different teams that serve on different Sundays of the month and know the teams will never serve at the same time.
You also know exactly the you will be serving. A 'Week 3' team will serve on the third Sunday of each month. Too easy!
One slight variation is that the 'Week 2' teams also look after the fifth Sundays that come around about four times per year. Sometimes we make the fifth Sunday a little simpler knowing that these teams will have served twice that month.
If you do hear someone say ‘church-wide serving system’, it is just that our teams work on the pattern of ‘the week of the month’!
